- Geometry adjustment for printability
- Orientation and support strategy
AKM provides design-to-part support for industrial prototypes, machinery models, architectural models, custom technical parts and selected bespoke pieces using FDM and resin technologies.
A supporting capability within AKM's industrial and engineering activity.
Advanced Manufacturing & 3D Printing is a distinct AKM capability that supports the company's wider engineering and industrial activity. It takes a requirement from digital model to physical component: design or file preparation, printing with FDM or resin technology, general finishing and a quality review before delivery.
Technology, material and finishing are selected per project. Suitability of a printed part for a given use is application-dependent and subject to material, geometry and project requirements. Where a part is not appropriate for additive manufacturing, AKM will say so.
“A physical model shortens the distance between an engineering idea and a decision.”

3D design and preparation of files for printing.
Filament-based printing for functional and larger parts.
Resin printing where fine surface detail is required.
From single prototypes to small, repeatable batches.
Physical prototypes for design review, fit checks and internal evaluation during product development.
Scaled or detail models of machinery, equipment and assemblies for engineering discussion and technical presentation.
Building, site and layout models for architects, developers and project teams.
Bespoke parts and components produced to a supplied or jointly developed model. Suitability is application-dependent.
Display, exhibition and presentation pieces where appearance and detail matter.
We review the intended use, geometry, quantity and any existing 3D data.
The model is designed or prepared, checked for printability and set up for the selected technology.
The part is produced using FDM or resin printing, selected according to detail, size and intended use.
General post-processing and a visual and dimensional review against the model, subject to material and geometry.
Parts are packed and shipped, or collected, as agreed for the project.
The list below describes the kinds of organisations this capability is intended for.
Engineering companies
Industrial manufacturers
Equipment suppliers and OEMs
Architects and developers
Product designers
Technical teams needing rapid physical models
3D printing inquiry
Describe the part or model, its intended use and the quantity you need. If you already have a 3D file, mention it — AKM will confirm whether the requirement is suitable for FDM or resin printing.
